PROFESSIONAL SECTION AND PRE-PROFESSIONAL SECTION
AUDITION THROUGH THE YEAR
Professional section, Monday to Saturday, 10:30am
Pre-professional section, Wednesday, 2pm
The professional and pre-professional training section are open to male and female young dancers who, in agreement with their parents and the Geneva Dance Center, have decided to pursue dancing as a profession.
Admission to those sections is contingent upon a ballet class audition designed to determine the student’s potential. Students in those classes are 11 to 18 years old. Depending on their level and the demands of their school curriculum, they may take between 12 and 35 hours of dance classes weekly.
In addition to classical ballet and a strong emphasis on classical technique (with point technique, pas de deux and variation classes), the professional program also includes modern dance and body conditioning classes. Students who are not able to follow this program will be asked to reconsider their career choice, so as not to encourage young dancers to persevere in a career that will prove too difficult for them.
The Geneva Dance Center’s dance program is recommended by the Migros Fellowship Program as well as by the Dance Professionals Association of Switzerland.
The Geneva Dance Center presents its professional students on a regular basis in International Dance Competitions, where they receive many awards every year.
